Architectural Review Board
The Architectural Review Board (ARB) serves to communicate and support the Town’s Zoning Ordinance in order to “preserve and protect historic places and areas in the Town through the control of demolition…and…regulation of architectural design and uses of structures.” Learn more about the Scottsville Historic District.
- Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Victory Hall, 401 Valley Street.

Review Board
The Town of Scottsville is seeking two community-minded volunteers to serve on its Architectural Review Board (ARB). The ARB works to preserve and protect the historic places and areas of Scottsville by regulating the architectural design and use of structures within the Town's historic district, including the review of proposed construction, alteration, relocation, and demolition. The Board is made up of five members appointed by the Town Council.
There are currently two openings:
- One (1) Board Member — a general seat open to interested residents and non-residents alike. All ARB members must have a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation.
- One (1) Architect Member — a seat for a registered architect with a demonstrated interest in historic preservation. This seat is filled on the basis of professional qualifications and is open to residents and non-residents alike.
Time commitment: The ARB meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Members serve four-year terms. These are volunteer positions; members are not compensated.

Complete and submit the application, along with a letter of interest, to the attention of Elizabeth Abe, Town Administrator.
Completed applications may be mailed or delivered to Town Hall at 401 Valley Street, Scottsville, VA 24590, or emailed to admin@scottsville.org.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted by August 24, 2026.

The Administrator will determine if your changes are exempt from review by the ARB, or if they require a Certificate of Appropriateness.
