On August 15, 2016 the Town of Scottsville became the first official Bee City USA in the Commonwealth of Virginia

 

Scottsville is committed to providing and promoting healthy, sustainable habitats for bees and other pollinators. For more information, you may read our resolution.

 

This would not be possible without the amazing Scottsville Supply Company and their tireless efforts to assist the town with this project and bringing pollination issues to the forefront. 

 

The Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature serves as the non-profit facilitator for ‘Bee City USA’ and the Town.  Their Hardware Street property now includes a budding apiary, or collection of bee hives, and serves as an outdoor classroom.
